John Muir

The John Muir Award is an environmental award scheme focused on wild places.
It encourages awareness and responsibility for the natural environment, in a spirit of fun, adventure and exploration.

Challenges are at the heart of each John Muir Award;

discover - explore - conserve - share.

Plan to improve the farm areas which are overgrown to encourage smaller birds and animals to dwell in them by planting wildflowers as undergrowth rather than invasive weeds creating a two layer wildlife habitat.
The young people will develop an understanding of our eco system and the importance of flowers within the overgrown areas.
They will explore the grassland areas and identify and record what plants etc. are already there and to see what other plants are needed to make the animal areas a more suitable habitat area for local wildlife.
They will make up a chart which can be used by themselves and shared with other groups to identify what plants need weeding out and others that need to be planted.
They will plant up at least one garden area.
